“The Annex” Project was conceptualized as the immediate site activation adjacent to the remediation and development project of the Gowanus Power House. As the first phase of development, The Annex is meant to begin driving traffic to the site, building community awareness, and strengthening the development’s brand while maximizing revenues through the Dekalb Market and Brooklyn Night Bazaar model of mixed retail, food vendors, studio space, and event venue.

On weekdays, “The Annex” functions with a 12,000 sq.ft. mensa and a 20,000 sq.ft. studio / retail space on the ground floor, and 27,000 sq.ft. of office space on the 2nd and 3rd floors. On weekends, in keeping with the Dekalb Market model, the 29,500 sq.ft. outdoor space is transformed into a marketplace.
