In 2006, ORE worked pro-bono with members from a low-income (section 8) housing block in the East-Village of Manhattan to design and construct a community park. Vertical gardens provide shade along paths and paved surfaces, while harvested rainwater circulates to simultaneously cool people and nourish plants. GrowNYC and ORE worked with volunteers to transform a vacant dirt lot into an urban oasis.
